AS a makeup-wearing Pinay, my main concerns about it are heat and humidity. And I don’t think I’m the only one with this problem. Heat makes you sweat and that washes away the foundation, setting powder, concealer and blush that you painstakingly applied in the morning, not to mention the expensive primer you bought, which promised to make your makeup last forever (it didn’t).
Admit it, we’ve all been suckers for products that use the words “long-wearing” and “12-hour wear,” or something to that effect. Sadly, not all of them work. The ones that do are usually very expensive or not available in the Philippines.
L’Oréal Makeup Designer/Paris’s Infallible line caused a lot of excitement when it was launched. I ordered a compact (the 16-Hour Pro Matte Powder) from an online seller late last year just to try it. I regret not ordering the foundation because my friend said it was amazing.
Finally, I got my own bottle last month and because I have (very) low EQ, I tried the product even before I got home. I bought a cleanser, washed my face and applied the foundation in the mall.
L’Oreal’s claim: Lasting for up to 24 hours, Infallible 24HR Foundation’s formula gives flawless, full coverage that hides visible imperfections, and a demi-matte finish with no visible shine. Powered by a combination of so-called Extreme Hold Pigments that adhere to skin, and Hydrating Hyaluron that gives optimum skin comfort, this long-wearing foundation guarantees no transfer, no dry-out and no mask-like effect from AM to PM.
My verdict: I’ve worn the foundation more than 10 times so that’s enough to review it. I usually apply it with a MAC 197SH brush or a damp Beauty Blender. The foundation goes on smoothly but sets fast. What I do is apply it by portion over a primer (from Tony Moly). I apply on my nose upward first then go to my cheeks and chin and, finally, move on to my forehead. Infallible 24HR Foundation has to be applied on well-moisturized skin. I didn’t try wearing it for 24 hours, but the longest it stayed on me was 10 hours. I did need to blot and powder my face after three hours, but the foundation was still there. It didn’t fade or just disappear. It was not drying and the finish wasn’t matte but not dewy either. Note: The shade I wear is Golden Beige, which is a shade lighter than my actual color, but the foundation leaves no white cast so that’s okay.
“Infallible 24HR Foundation has an amazing formula that addresses the Filipina’s top foundation needs—a product that lasts all day, resists melting and fading in the heat, delivers high coverage and gives a shine-free finish. All of these benefits can finally be found in one foundation.” Trisha Chua said, group product manager of L’Oréal Makeup Designer/Paris.
The version we have in the Philippines is the one in a bottle. It is different from the Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in a tube that’s the US version. What we have, the one in a bottle, is more suitable for our climate, resists meltdown, has SPF 18 and offers full coverage.
Infallible 24HR Foundation is available in six shades that match warm Filipina undertones, and is sold in L’Oréal Paris makeup counters nationwide for P700 SRP.
Another new product from the Infallible range is the Infallible 10HR Lipstick, which has a creamy, easy-to-glide formula that applies evenly without feeling tacky or dry, and settles into a demi-matte finish. Infallible 10HR Lipstick comes in a range of 20 shades, from subdued neutrals to vibrant hues, to bold, deep shades. This is available for only P500 SRP. Note: I have, yet, to try this. Rounding up the line are the 16HR Pro-Matte Powder and Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender & Setting Spray, which also available for P600 and P500, respectively. I love the powder so much that I’m already on my second compact.
