CONFESSION: I had a brief one-on-one interview with Liza Soberano and my first question was: What is your beauty secret?
I could have asked about her about her ABS-CBN prime-time soap Dolce Amore, movie projects and endorsements, but it was her beauty secrets, if any, that I was most interested in. You can’t blame me. Like most women, I am very curious about any beauty secrets/routines she might have.
Liza looked flustered by my question.
“Uhm, I guess it’s something that comes from within,” she said during the Titus Pens event at Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City recently. Liza revealed she didn’t grow up thinking she was beautiful, so all this attention is rather new to her.
Liza is the new brand ambassador of Titus Pens. The young actress remembers doodling in class during lectures (when she wasn’t listening to the teacher). “Blue is still my favorite color,” she said. “I love pens in all colors, but I would always go for blue.” What I learned about Liza is that she loves to cook and bake. During her rare free days, she would cook pasta for her siblings or play video games with them. It’s her way of saying she misses them.
The whole-day event was filled with activities, such as art sessions, basic doodling, manga art and poetry. Artists Lei Melendres, Andre Manguba and Soleil Ignacio featured their artistry in the huge Liza Soberano-themed live wall-art exhibition. It was truly a day filled with color, art, music and beauty.
Speaking of colors, an online friend from the United States gave me a tip about the new Smashbox liquid lipsticks, which are sold-out everywhere there. My friend said everybody in her circle is talking about the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick.
I am not a fan of liquid lipsticks, except those from Kat Von D. The others are very drying. So I’m very hopeful about Smashbox Always On because this is a brand that’s very underrated. I love Smashbox’s BB and CC Creams, primers and the Liquid Halo Foundation. I have been going to Beauty Bar every other day since I learned about the liquid lipstick. No news yet on when they will arrive. I have my eye on Bawse and Big Spender.
The lipsticks are formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates, and are said to be very pigmented and opaque.
I read an online review saying the lipsticks seem to melt into your lips without making them dry and uncomfortable. No cracking, too. I haven’t been this excited about a new product in a long time, except for the MAC Selena collection later this year.
