Small and medium enterprises engaged in furniture making, home décor, toys, and handicrafts have formed the Philippine Federation of Furnishings Associations (PhilFFA) to serve as a platform to voice out their industry concerns.
PhilFFA said that after two years of preparation and compliance work, the umbrella group, comprised of eight member-organizations in the creative industry, has recently been granted legal status by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The federation’s main objective is to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the creative industry by becoming their voice in making known their concerns, needs and opinions.
Member-organizations of PhilFFA are the Association of Negros Producers; Home Accents Group of the Philippines Inc.; Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation; Cebu Gifts, Toys and Houseware Foundation Inc.; Philippine Homestyle and Holiday Décor; Philippine Chamber of Handicraft Exporters and Artisans Inc.; Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines Inc.; and a group of health and wellness enterprises.
Among the PhilFFA’s plans for 2016 include forming the association’s committees, drafting an industry road map, and seeking an audience with the Department of Trade and Industry to formally introduce the association and its members. It will also draft a letter introducing the federation and outlining its objectives and action plan, to be sent out to all pertinent agencies.
PhilFFA has voted Chiqui Veneracion as its new secretary general.
