Managing chronic pain can be costly and most individuals would really spend a fortune just to be pain-free.
Constant body aches can afflict anyone, young and old alike, and can be a harrowing experience for those suffering from it. The most common types are head, neck and back pain; muscle and joint pain, or neuropathic pain, which occurs when the nervous system doesn’t function properly.
Constant body ache could be a medical condition that needs attention and should not be ignored. Severe pain in the muscles and joints resembling those you might experience during flu can be debilitating. The aches and pains may cause fever and when the pain becomes severe, tenderness in the joint areas and inflammation of the muscles may result in weakness and feeling sick.
Constant body aches may lead to increased fatigue, as the pain occurs not only in one particular area but also almost all over the body. So much so, you might even have trouble sleeping.
Injuries from accidents or sports, whether minor or major, may result in such body aches and the condition normally worsens during cold weather.
Aging can also cause these chronic body aches. Older adults are more likely to have long-term medical problems, such as diabetes or arthritis, which can lead to ongoing pain.
Stress can also be responsible for constant body aches. Headache, muscle pain, chest pain, fatigue, sleep problems and stomach upsets are all common effects of stress on your body.
To relieve pain and to help you cope with the symptoms, your pain doctor may prescribe antidepressants or muscle relaxants to reduce pain perception in your brain. Usually, the first line of treatment involves physical therapy, exercise, eating a well-balanced diet, stress-relief methods such as massage and relaxation techniques and non-pharmacologic treatment such as yoga, acupuncture and  Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Today, millions of Filipinos are suffering in silence because of the pain of arthritis, migraine, diabetes and other medical conditions.
Although pain relief is a basic human right, the Pain Society of the Philippines said lack of knowledge, the indifference of certain doctors, and the reluctance and refusal of some patients to get the right pain treatment have prevented many Filipinos from exercising this right. This not only affects a person’s health and well-being, but also his work and relationships with other people.
Hopefully, all that may change with the introduction of a new medical device that offers quick relief from pain and inflammation.
Medsonix Acoustic Resonating Therapy device
The Medsonix Acoustic Resonating Therapy is a noninvasive, drug-free, pain-free, prescription-free, safe and effective method of relieving pain and discomfort that will soon be available in the Philippines. Developed over 10 years by Alphonse Cassone of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, this US Food and Drug Administration-registered device uses low-frequency sound waves to increase blood flow, decrease inflammation and pain, and relieve the painful symptoms of a host of medical problems.
Pilot studies conducted at the School of Nursing and Physical Therapy at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2000 published in an international medical journal in 2002 showed that theMedsonix Therapy System improve range of motion and decreased pain in over 85 percent of patients.
“Immediate and sustained pain relief has been experienced by many patients after only one treatment although four to six treatments are normally required for maximum benefit,” according to Cassone, 42, who has experimented with sound waves for the past 15 years.
Cassone used work in the US Navy as  the chief designer of an acoustics system to track Russian submarines and this is where he learned to design systems for low frequency. He recently visited the Philippines to discuss partnership with both the government and private hospitals for the distribution of his invention in the country.
“We are confident that the Medsonix Therapy System will be embraced by many Filipinos who have suffered long enough and want immediate relief from pain. This revolutionary method will help improve the quality of life of many patients who have tried almost everything to get rid of pain,” said Prof. Enrique Soriano III, an educator, family business coach, author, columnist, and professor of global marketing, program director for real estate, and chairman of the marketing cluster of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.
Soriano was instrumental in discovering the device in his quest for finding solution for his father’s body pain over a year ago. Unfortunately, it was only available in the US and he didn’t live long to try the treatment. With this Soriano collaborated with Cassone to bring the device to the Philippines.
“We expect to make it available  within the next two months to help our kababayan suffering in pain. Aside from hospitals, we look into franchising the device in select medical and wellness centers,” Soriano during a media briefing.
Each Medsonix session, according to Cassone, lasts for about 30 minutes and can be done while patients are reading, listening to music, or checking their e-mails. There is no need to disrobe but patients are required to wear sound-reduction headphones during treatment. As they are enveloped with low frequency sound waves, patients often feel a warm, tingly sensation throughout the body or around the affected area.
He added among the many medical conditions that can be helped by the therapy system are arthritis, bursitis, migraine, carpal tunnel syndrome, back and joint pain, multiple sclerosis, Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, sciatica, diabetic neuropathy, lupus and peripheral vascular disease.
