THE government has distributed 11 farm equipment worth P25 million to farmers in the Cagayan Valley region, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said in a statement.
The equipment include three hand tractors, two rice threshers and six heavy tractors with disc plows, trailing
harrows and trailers.
With the equipment, the DAR hopes to encourage farmers to be more aggressive in doing business in agriculture, significantly increasing their productivity.
Regional Director lawyer Marjorie Ayson said the farm machines were turned over to four farmers’
cooperatives in Cagayan Valley, four in Isabela and three in Nueva Vizcaya.
The DAR is providing farm cooperatives with equipment through the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) program.
Through ARCCESS, the DAR aims to introduce new farming technology to farmer-beneficiaries to develop their cooperatives and ultimately increase farm yield.
“The machines are expected to enhance the economic conditions of farmers because it will greatly improve their farm production. The equipment will also make farming easier for them,” Ayson said.
