MITSUBISHI Motors Corp. Philippines (MMPC) has reported its highest monthly sales so far this year, but recorded tempered growth in comparison to its performance in 2014.
In a statement, the Japanese car brand and the second-largest auto company in the country in terms of market share reported a sales figure of 4,607 units in June. The June sales, said MMPC, is a record high for the year, and reflects a 4-percent improvement over May’s 4,431 unit sales.
On a year-on-year basis, however, this only translates to a 1.6-percent growth over June 2014’s 4,535 sales. From January June of 2015, MMPC sold 25,198 units, registering 0.5-percent growth from the same period a year ago.
Despite the paltry growth, MMPC said passenger-car sales in the first half grew by 28.9 percent, allowing the car-maker to sustain its No. 2 position in the market.
In the passenger-car segment, Mitsubishi sold 8,002 units, which accounts for 4,673 units of Mirage G4 sedan; 2,834 units of Mirage; and 495 units of Lancer EX.
Froilan Dytianquin, MMPC first vice president for Marketing Division, said outlook for sales remain optimistic given that improvements on volume-sellers are under way.
