SMALL and medium businesses (SMBs) still remain susceptible to data breach as they recently have become concerned about the security management of their entities.
Based on Sophos survey conducted by Ponemon Institute, which involved 2,000 respondents globally, 42 percent of them said insufficient budgets is one of the main challenges they face in maintaining their security posture.
The study also showed that 33 percent of them said they lack in-house expertise. Most of SMBs do not have a clear owner responsible for cybersecurity, it said.
In the Philippines, they increasingly ride on technology trends, including bring-your-own-device and cloud computing for productivity.
Meanwhile, mid-sized enterprises suffer from data overload and do not know what security solutions best fit their requirements.
Sophos Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President Gerhard Eschelbeck said the recently unveiled Sophos SG Series “will prove to be a good return-on-investment, as it is not only affordable; it also makes up for their lack of [information technology] expertise and saves time with easy and flexible deployment.”
The new Sophos SG Series appliances run on fourth-generation Intel Core processors, which deliver up to four times the speed of the previous Unified Threat Management (UTM) generation appliances, making security for SMBs and mid-sized organizations flexible and simple.
With the latest Sophos UTM 9.2 operating system, which features more than 150 improvements, including new Advanced Threat Protection and SPX Email Encryption functionality, they can also be deployed on Intel compatible servers as virtual appliances and in the cloud using Amazon Web Services.
The SG series is available in the mid-range 200, 300 and 400 models, all delivering over 10 Gbit/sec firewall throughput to easily manage the demands of multilayered protection.
These appliances are designed to streamline administrative processes for simpler and more effective security.
They can be upgraded and benefit from future software improvements, as well as include a multifunction LCD display.
