TOUGH Mudder Inc. and Proactive Sports Management joined forces for the country’s first staging of the fun but grueling Tough Mudder event in July.
“This is the first time that Tough Mudder will be in the Philippines, and Tough Mudder is not just being tough, it is also about teamwork and determination,” Proactive COO Justine Cordero told a news conference last Saturday.
The event will be a half-course race consisting of challenges with elements of fire, ice and electricity. It will be a 5-mile course on a soon-to-be-announced venue. Organizers are looking at 5,000 participants in its inaugural competition.
In November the more demanding 10-mile race will be presented by Tough Mudder.
Cordero assured that sufficient emergency units will be available in the event that was launched in 2010 and has hosted three million participants in more than a hundred of its races.
Tough Mudder has done races in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and two new countries—South Africa and Oman.
“Tough Mudder events have united millions seeking a more engaging, communal form of active lifestyle,” Tough Mudder CEO Will Dean said.
