CLARK FREEPORT—The P2.5-billion Aqua Planet, a water-theme park regarded as one of the biggest in Asia, opened here during a three-day event from November 23 to 25.
Aqua Planet, which sits on a 10-hectare property, is expected to be one of the new premier attractions at Clark, Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) President and CEO Alexander Cauguiran said.
“We have nine new local flights this year and the people coming from these nine places have reasons to stay and visit Clark,” he said. “Aqua Planet is a world-class project.”
Cauguiran is expected to lead ceremonies on November 29 to welcome the 1.3-millionth passenger at the CIAC for 2017. He, Clark Development Corp. (CDC) President Noel Manankil, Angeles City First Lady Herminia Pamintuan and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) Chairman Andrea Domingo were guests during the ceremonial lighting of the park last Friday night.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Aqua Planet treated at least 100 orphans for a fun-filled activity on November 23.
Dr. Irineo Alvaro, chairman and CEO of the BB Group of Cos. and Medal Consortium, led the ceremonial toasting, lighting ceremony and tour of the park.
“Indeed, no one can put a good man down, as well as a man who never gives up scaling new heights. A toast to a new business venture. To the Aqua Planet Family, congratulations,” Alvaro said. “We can now highly speak of Clark as a world-class tourism destination, as Aqua Planet joins the rank as among the best and biggest water theme parks in this part of Asia.”
Aqua Planet is the first phase of a 122-hectare integrated resort project in Clark. It has over 25 attractions suitable for all guests, including persons with disabilities.
