THE longest-running music event for the environment, Earth Day Jam 2018 returns to one of its original concert venues—the Quezon City Memorial Circle—on April 28 at 5 p.m. It is considered a milestone for this annual live music event, which continues to influence Filipinos through music and education as they become more responsible and caring for planet Earth’s wellbeing.
“[This] is historic for Earth Day Jam fans who have followed this annual music event for so many summer years. Quezon Memorial Circle brings back insightful memories about the festival’s roots [as it expands] environmental advocacies,” Earth Day Jam founder singer Lou Bonnevie said. This year’s adapted theme for Earth Day Jam emphasizes on the key elements of water, air and trash. It is a running advocacy that has kept the commemoration grounded with youth, development organizations and government institutions working on environment welfare and protection.
Known for its epic live-pop music in open-air performances, Earth Day Jam 2018 is set to feature more than 100 musicians. As Bonnevie put it, “It is a grand combination between new and senior musicians in a single night of great music. It is something you look forward to in every Earth Day Jam event. Moreover, this event remains open and free to the public.”
Aside from Bonnevie herself, featured performers for Earth Day Jam 2018 include Abra, Barbie Almalbis, Chicosci, Grace Note, Joey Ayala, Mayonnaise, Philia, Rouge, Sandwich, Sud, Tanya Markova, the Chongkeys and Wally Gonzalez joined by Wolfgang’s Manuel Legarda. Ace guitar-protégé Gabriel Lazaro will also be introduced, while Los Angeles, U.S.A. “grass root” rapper Aw Day P is a special guest artist. Recognizing contributions to various environmental campaigns and artists’ musical legacy, Earth Day Jam 2018 will extend a special citation to Ayala—a known environmentalist—who will do a rare Earth Day Jam stint with junior musicians.
