DMCI Homes Inc., the property arm of conglomerate DMCI Holdings Inc., said its income soared 41 percent during the first half of the year to P2.48 billion, from last year’s P1.76 billion.
Reservation sales grew 4 percent during the first half of the year to P23.01 billion, from P22.12 billion last year.
“Our pioneering resort-style developments have gained a strong following among buyers. There is a healthy demand for our projects in Metro Manila, and even in Davao and Baguio,” DMCI Homes President Alfredo Austria said.
Encouraged by its strong sales, DMCI Homes is looking to replicate its success in other parts of the country.
“We are also exploring new product formats as condo units continue to evolve as a versatile solution to urban-living challenges,” Austria said.
DMCI Homes sees reservation sales to further pick up in the second half of 2018 with the scheduled launch of mid-rise and high-rise developments in Parañaque, Manila, Pasay, Las Piñas, Davao and Quezon City, he said.
Leading the list of its top project performers for the period include Prisma Residences, Fairlane Residences and Mirea Residences in Pasig; Kai Garden Residences in Mandaluyong; Orabella, Infina Towers, Celandine and Zinnia Towers in Quezon City; and Verdon Parc in Davao City.
DMCI is set to venture into socialized housing.
Officials, however, said they are not expecting to earn from the socialized housing project, which it may sell for less than half-a-million pesos, a government-mandated value for each unit.
“But we want our people to benefit from our efforts,” said Isidro A. Consunji, the company’s chairman and president.
“We did a survey and we found that most of our people in Calaca do not have houses. So we decided to start there,” he said.
DMCI operates the 600-megawatt thermal coal power plant in Calaca, Batangas.
Consunji said they are already talking to a subcontractor to carry out the project, which it plans to copy in other parts of the country.
“Whether it’s a big project or a small project, it needs to have very good people so initially, we wanted it to have a flushing toilet, but there’s a price limit so there are challenges involved. But even if it’s socialized housing, it should be good,” he said.
Its housing unit DMCI Homes will carry out the project. DMCI Homes may commence construction next year since it is still securing permits.
