HOMEMAKER have always sought not just utility but also aesthetic in the things they bring into living spaces, articles that add uniqueness to the overall spatial design, along with the latest developments in functionality.
This is no more evident than in the condos and apartments that have risen and are rising everywhere in the city, with the retail landscape offering furniture and furnishings that enhance the flow of these spaces.
With much of these developments done in modern lines and even an industrial aesthetic, it should surprise no one that dwellers are yearning for the touches of natural elements in their spaces.
SieMatic, a renowned German brand focused on the kitchen, is quick to respond to this need. Just recently, Focus Global Inc., the official distributor of SieMatic in the Philippines, launched the Urban kitchen cabinet collection at Twenty-Four Seven McKinley, its flagship base in Bonifacio Global City.
Spearheading the event was one of SieMatic’s managing director, Volker Betsch, who talked expansively about the latest addition to the brand’s lineup of kitchen cabinets. “The concept of Urban is to bring nature to the city. This collection is the harmonious fusion of natural materials, like mini herb gardens, combined with the industrial components of a modern home. Now, this is still an emerging trend, but it grows stronger each day. And we in the company want to cater to the people who are open to accepting this new style.”
Betsch added that, while minimalism is still the dominant trend in the market, a lot of consumers are now gradually looking for things that speak to their individuality, and kitchens are no exception. “We want life and character in the kitchen, and we want to create a fresh perspective based on functionality and flexibility,” Betsch said.
The Urban style collection features the new SieMatic 29 kitchen sideboard, developed in collaboration with the Berlin-based design studio Kinzo. It is an homage to the traditional piece of furniture: the kitchen buffet, which gave SieMatic its first success after its founding in 1929. The cabinet has also earned the prestigious Gold German Design Award from the German Design Council.
The striking design, with its sloped side panels and distinctive silhouette, casts a unique staple to the piece. The black matte finish of the metal feet is reflected in the unit’s fittings, such as the railing and power outlets. The design versatility goes into niches with nifty colors and materials that can individually accommodate kitchen articles, such as cook tops and sinks.
The SieMatic 29 can also be impeccably rounded out by matching or coordinated tall cabinets, in which an oven, dishwasher and/or refrigerator can be installed. The ensembles are available in various widths, with closed doors and open shelves. The legs of these tall cabinets also make it a freestanding furniture.
The herb garden, however, is the main part of the open-design theme of the Urban kitchen collection. This particular arrangement, according to representatives from SieMatic and Focus Global Inc., inspires organic gardening enthusiasts to invite nature into their kitchen, while delivering an open look that showcases character without detracting from any view of the outdoors.
Jhoanna Villanueva, home furnishings division manager of Focus Global, said in closing that by using only the finest materials available, the latest production technologies and the most stringent quality control standards, SieMatic makes sure that clients get the kitchen they’ve always wanted.
