ABOITIZ Construction Inc. (ACI), a privately held construction arm of the Aboitiz Group, announced on Thursday a partnership with Philippine Resins Industries Inc. (PRII) to double the capacity of PRII’s polyvinyl chloride resin plant in Mariveles, Bataan.
ACI Chairman Jaime Jose Aboitiz and President and COO Alberto Ignacio Jr. led the signing of the memorandum of agreement with Takahara Kurokawa and Yoshihide Kanisawa, representatives of PRII.
The resin-plant expansion, an 18-month project, includes a combined package for the structural, mechanical, piping and civil-works expansion of the plant, doubling its capacity from 100 metric tons (MT) per year to 200 MT per year. In February PRII said it has allotted $44 million for the plant that the company expects completed by December 2018 and start operations by January 2019.
PRII is a repeat client as ACI, previously known as Metaphil, built PRII’s first plant in 1998. “We are confident that ACI will be able to commit to and deliver on this project,” Aboitiz said. “We are giving our full commitment to RISQ [reliability, integrity, safety and quality] as we always do with every project we undertake.”
ACI is one of the few Philippine contractors with a very wide range of experience in major engineering and construction projects. It has a regular work force of over 600 engineers, technicians and administrative professionals supported by a ready pool of over 5,000 skilled personnel.
ACI said its work force is continuously built through partnerships with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, schools and skills training centers, as well as various barangays through mobile skills training.
