AirAsia, Asia’s largest budget carrier, on Tuesday said the resumption of its commercial flights has been moved to June 5.
The airline had announced that flights will resume on June 1. The airline said the change in schedule was done to give passengers enough time to consolidate their needed documents for a smoother travel.
“Also, this is based on new developments on our coordination with our partners in the government, including LGUs [local government units],” the company said.
The airline said it will issue an updated travel advisory “at the soonest time possible” with details on its initial flights to Cebu and Cagayan de Oro starting June 5.
The lockdown measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 have forced airlines, including AirAsia, to cancel commercial flights.
The decision to resume commercial flights was made after the government announced that it will allow domestic flights between areas under general community quarantine.
AirAsia said it is complying with advice and regulations from local governments, civil aviation authorities, global and local health agencies, including the World Health Organization.
