CENTURY City Mall, in partnership with marketing solutions company Clear Channels Inc. (CCI), will open on December 1 the first interactive digital play place in the country.
Here, kids not only get to marvel at various digitally generated environments, but also participate in and interact with them, according to CCI President and General Manager Varick Ong.
“Future Park is a pure sensory experience, a futuristic take on the activity of play,” Ong said at the sidelines of the familiarization tour on November 28. “We’ve engaged some of the most creative artists from the world over to help us introduce a spectacular way to play.”
For a limited engagement from December 1 to January 31, 2016, Ong said Future Park will enable Filipino children, preferably ages 2 to 7 years old, their first chance to be immersed in a dazzling exhibit of games and installations powered by cutting-edge technology. The gallery is at the fourth level of Century City Mall in Makati City.
In its five galleries, children and adults can engage with emerging creative media technologies and innovative artistic experiences from the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands and the Philippines. Grounded in science, math and the visual arts, each execution will surely challenge, engage and stimulate the imagination of guests.
“We also wanted to dispel the popular notion digital technology encourages children to be couch potatoes,” Ong said. “Unlike the popular PC games, activities here in Future Park encourage children to be active and pursue their creativity.”
The galleries are called Headrush, Room Racers, Gravity Ball, Social Floor and Sketch City. In Head Rush, a participant is challenged to physically dodge balls as one tries to outran an opponent in a holographic 3-dimensional virtual reality world. Meanwhile, in Room Racers, participants are asked to race virtual cars around actual room items.
In Gravity Balls, when movement is detected, colored balls in different sizes fall from above. The more movement detected, the more balls fall. Using their silhouettes, users can catch and throw the falling balls around the projection area.
The Social Floor allows interaction not only between humans and the projections but between humans too. Sketch City allows kids’ sketches to become part of an entire city projected on screen.
“Future Park is one of the highlights of the Century City Mall experience this holiday season. We encourage kids of all ages to come over and enjoy what people from around the world is enjoying,” Joaquin Tamano, Century City Mall’s general manager, said in a statement.
CCI was established in 2005 to provide innovative marketing solutions in the Philippines, the company’s web site said.
