TRANSPORTATION Secretary Arthur P. Tugade ordered on Monday the filing of administrative charges against a supervising transport officer for allegedly accepting bribes from a transportation company.
In a statement, Tugade said he has instructed Transportation Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Procurement Reinier Paul Yebra to file the appropriate charges against Road Transport Planning Supervising Transportation and Development Officer Roberto Delfin.
Charges include “grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service,” Tugade said.
Allegedly, Delfin received P150,000—reportedly through his aide Narciso Lim—from New Sunrise Transport Cooperative (NTSC) to gain favor over a route measure capacity.
“The said amount is in addition to other gifts and favors you asked for and received from NTSC, including escort services and all-expense paid accommodation in a private resort,” the formal charge added.
Already, Yebra has issued a 90-day preventive suspension order against Delfin.
“Your position affords you the opportunity to exert undue influence or pressure on potential witnesses and tamper with evidence pending formal investigation,” he said.
Tugade, for his part, reiterated that corruption will be eliminated under the administration of President Duterte.
“We have warned you from the very beginning: There should be no trace of corruption in our system—that we will weed out anyone who commits it,” Tugade said.
