DAVAO CITY—Dusit International and real-estate developer Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. (TLDC) have forged a partnership to bring into being the Dusit Thani Residence, a hotel complex and luxury-residence development project, which will soon rise in the northern coastal section of the city.

“Now rising and scheduled to open before the end of 2018 in Lanang is Davao City’s first five-star residential and hotel development, the Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Hotel,” the Dusit International said in a statement.

During the symbolic “topping off” ceremony of the project, Philippine Hoteliers Inc. Vice Chairman and President Evelyn Singson said, “The hotel and residence projects are expected to raise the bar in residential and hospitality developments in the city.”

Dusit Thani Residence is a community that will cater to business and luxury travelers—the first of its kind in Davao City that perfectly blends urban-residences living with the finest hotel amenities. Situated along JP Laurel, Lanang, Davao City, Dusit Thani Residence will give its residents a dramatic panoramic view of the ocean and the entire community, as well as serve as a welcome addition to the existing city skyline. Singson also said the Dusit-branded projects here would likely encourage existing hotels “to upgrade their facilities and services to stay competitive and [inspire] the other new hotel projects to match our brand.”

Tomas Lorenzo, president and CEO of TDLC said, “The projects will allow the city to offer real international five-star hotel accommodations and services for visitors, as well as corporate executives.” The hotel complex and the residences will have 120 and 174 rooms, respectively. “These are two separate development projects, but owners in the residences will be able to access and tap the international hotel services and amenities 24 hours a day,” Lorenzo stated.

“The project has been well-received by the market, with 50 percent of the residences already sold.  The hotel will be completed by the third quarter of next year, but its commercial operation will start in the early part of 2019,” he added.

“When our doors open for business in 2018, the Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Hotel will be the very first internationally branded, mixed-use residence and hotel development, as well as the first luxury accommodation right in the heart of Davao City. It will also be the first Dusit-branded Residence in Southeast Asia,” Lorenzo concluded.
