WHILE a number of paint and chemical manufacturers promise powerful coating solutions, and the other half boast of advanced paint-formulation technologies, the Dutch multinational company AkzoNobel is committed to specializing in both.
More important, these specialties are readily available in the local market through Akzonobel’s best-known paint and coatings brand, Dulux.
Recently, Akzonobel introduced Dulux Professional, a comprehensive and customizable portfolio for all coating needs; and Dulux Ambiance Special Effects, an assortment of premium finishes of interior paints. These products are available through Dulux’s exclusive distributors in the country: Mega Paint Corp. and Woodcare Tech Marketing Philippines Inc.
Cluster Leader of AkzoNobel Decorative Paints for Southeast Asia and Pacific Jun de Dios said the company took the steady growth of the paint market in the country as an opportune time to introduce the Dulux Professional portfolio to architects, contractors, interior designers and other trade professionals.
“Households, especially urban households, have been growing steadily over the last five years to roughly around 6 percent to 10 percent, and the construction industry continuously sees new projects on the rise,” de Dios explained at the recent launch of Dulux in Shangri-La at The Fort.
The Dulux Professional provides a range of innovative and sustainable products, technical services and support to professional partners. It is also customized to match the specific requirements, budget and sustainability targets of Filipino end-consumers.
Dulux Professional’s product portfolio offers a full range of coating materials that can cover all paintable surfaces, including interior, exterior, metal and wood. Durability is just one of the products’ many innovative features.
As an example, both the Dulux Professional Weathershield (for exterior coatings) and Diamond (for interior coatings) products are scientifically formulated to ensure longer-lasting protection to houses and buildings for lesser maintenance and redecoration.
The Weathershield line has Elastomeric technology that allows a paint film to stretch three times more than ordinary exterior paint. Weathershield Flexx, on the other hand, covers hairline cracks for superior water-resistance and prevention against moisture damage.
The unique Cross-Linking Surface technology allows the film to sustain its flexibility beneath a closely structured tough surface layer to shield off dirt. Keel Cool technology uses special pigments to deflect heat, while the Colourlock technology prevents colors exposed to ultraviolet rays from fading.
For interior projects, the Diamond product portfolio boasts of StainResist Film technology for hardwearing finish. It prevents and delays stains from penetrating deep into the paint film, while its tough film keeps stains on the surface so they can be easily removed. The Lumitech technology brightens indoor spaces by reflecting more and, at the same time, absorbing less light. The technology illuminates interiors, making small rooms brighter and feel more spacious, yielding potential energy savings, as less artificial lighting is used to achieve the same brightness. Last, it features the Colourguard Property, a high-performance pigment that keeps wall colors looking fresh longer.
Meanwhile, Dulux Ambiance Special Effects Paint is a selection of fine finishes and textures that add both a new physical and visual dimension, bringing a unique touch and feel to the walls of homes. These special-effects paints are available in textures of Linen, for a textured fabric effect; Marble, for a marble-like finish; Metallic, to achieve metallic tones;
Velvet, for a smooth and sleek feel to the walls; and the ColourMotion, a special-effect paint that reveals subtle unique shades when viewed from different angles and illumination.
“The Dulux Ambiance Special Effects Paint brings personalization of living spaces to a really exciting level as it allows today’s homeowners, with a good sense of personal style and individual aesthetics, to add personality, creativity and uniqueness to their home décor,” said said Jeremy Rowe, managing director of AkzoNobel Decorative Paints in South-east and South Asia and the Middle East.
