TODAY’S gospel gives us an insight on the Kingdom of God likened to how when a seed is planted, a host of factors contribute to its growth.
The growth of the Kingdom is mysterious because even the farmer who sows the seed does not know how it will grow, as its mystery remains hidden beneath the soil.
He could, however, unearth the seed and check how it is growing, but no. He knows that patience, his act of faith, hope and trust will yield a bountiful harvest.
The Kingdom that Jesus speaks of initially is not a place, but essentially a way of life. A life started by His example and carried out by the work of the Holy Spirit. And by example, His death and resurrection that saved the world from the throes of evil is what will change the world in any lifetime to come.
And with the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live a way of life that reflects God’s will. The goodness that we live out does not mean we do it to accomplish God’s work. We simply do it because we are working toward the moment that He comes again and finish what he began.
Jesus is teaching His parables to us who have chosen to follow because we will believe. We will hear what is being said because of our exponential faith.
The Kingdom of God is like the person who goes out and scatters the word of God, which is the seed, and trusts that God will make it grow. When it grows, the assurance is that God will come again and reap the harvest.
I have said countless times that there is no one who is truly beneath anyone. And if you feel small and weak because the world sees you that way, do not worry. That is when God’s strength transcends through us, that is when our faithful way of life is all for his glory.
Therefore, every action we do today should bring us closer to God’s Kingdom.
Let us allow Him to plant the seed in our hearts and see the wonderful things that can happen.
