Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club currently has 800 active members and is open to private events such as weddings and other special celebrations. With a cooler, breezy climate compared to Manila, gorgeous scenery, and complete facilities that include a hotel, it is a perfect weekend getaway or home for a destination party. The sprawling property can host at least four big events at the same time and none of the groups will run into each other.
The centerpiece of the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club, of course, is the 27-hole all-weather championship golf course, which has hosted the 89th and the 93rd Philippine Open and various international tournaments. In its 20-years history, it has reigned over other golf courses being the country’s “most photogenic course” and awarded “the best golf course in the Philippines.”
With three separate nine-hole courses to tee off at, many golfers enjoy the challenge Mount Malarayat’s golf course offers. An added bonus is they can play safely, rain or shine: Under the course is a well-planned drainage and sand capping, which is around 6-12 inches of sand under the grass to absorb any water. With this assurance and confidence, the golf course has maintained this single policy through the years–that if your golf shoes get muddy at all any time during their play, your green fee shall be waived. But they haven’t waived any green fees at all in the last 20 years, said the amiable chairman, Architect Antonio Turalba, Sr.
In line with its 20th anniversary, Mount Malarayat continues to update its property, starting with the renovation of The Sand Trap Lounge, the Pro Shop, the men’s lockers, and the golf course, Mt. Makulot, which reopens for play in November 2018. The other two courses will likewise have a facelift scheduled within the next two years.
The property also continues to expand their roster of residential products, with condominium units planned for the near future. This is in preparation for Lipa City’s commercial establishments and businesses boom especially with the opening of S&R in January 2019.
Chairman Turalba said it is a great challenge to manage such a huge property but his team hopes to continue to offer their members and guests good facilities, good service, and an enjoyable game for the players—with the hopes to get the next generation of players into golf, too.
The good news: anyone can play and stay at Mount Malarayat provided they come along with a club member. For those who would like to sleep over, the club’s hotel has well-appointed guest rooms and suites.
