TAIWANESE firm Cal-Comp Technology (Philippines) Inc. said it has sealed a partnership with SM Supermalls to introduce its artificial intelligence (AI) robotic service.
It will be the country’s first-ever in-mall smart customer service robot, which will make its appearance at SM Megamall in Ortigas during the early part of next year.
It will provide seamless customer service by directing mall-goers and answering queries about Megamall shops and tenant promos with no more waiting in queue.
The large screen and speakers on the robot provide real-time promotion with interactive way-finding service with more relevant results and less effort, all thanks to the AI technologies within the service robot. “In pursuit of bringing family fun experiences for all, SM is excited to bring to customers another fun innovation that aims to transform shopping and retail experiences in the country,” said Steven Tan, SM Supermalls chief operating officer.
The service robot, which has features like smart voice interactivity and facial detection, can also be used in other industries, such as retail convenience stores, health care and finance. It is also equipped with a front screen, which can be used for mobile advertisements and delivering other announcements.
“Our partnership with SM Supermalls will revolutionize the local retail industry, and we are excited for the rollout of this new technology across all SM Supermalls in the Philippines. Our smart-service robot’s speech capabilities will hopefully make the shopping experience more convenient for everyone, and provide the needed assistance to mall guests of all ages,” Cal-Comp and NKG CEO Simon Shen said in a statement.
Cal-Comp primarily produces calculators, electronic keyboards, LEDs, hard-disk drives.
It recently filed its registration statement to be listed at the Philippine Stock Exchange, but pulled out its plan shortly after the regulators approved its application.
It is the local arm of Taiwan’s New Kinpo Group and hopes to expand its presence in the Philippine domestic market.
