Erykah Badu basks in her new era of reinvention and expansion
New York — Erykah Badu has unintentionally occupied the role of culture shifter and influencer for 20 plus years, well before it became a trendy, social media descriptor. Her impact has vibrated throughout music and fashion, and the “Green Eyes” songstress sees it clearly.
Retail is not dead
EVEN before the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting global economic crisis, offline retailers have already been engaged in an intense battle against e-commerce players. Those challenges have now accelerated at staggering speed and retailers need to stop expecting businesses to return to “normal.”
A passion for beauty
THERE was so much talent at The SM Store Beauty Section at SM Makati when makeup artists—legends and fledglings—converged for a “Glam Session”. Each professional makeup artist received a So Much Beauty Pro-Card, which comes with perks, such as 10 percent discounts on purchases at SM Beauty, first dibs on the latest products and exclusive access to events.
The best of who’s next
THE recent presentations at Manila Fashion Festival: The Next showcased some of the more exciting and refreshing talents today (read: fresh to my eyes and new on this space). The Marquee Tent at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel was the venue of this fashion evolution, and the local scene will be made more vibrant with these creative additions to its fold.
Summer when it sizzles
It’s that time of the year to crank up the sizzle as you indulge in some sand, sea and sun. SM Accessories recently celebrated summer in a big way with an ultimate summer party, featuring American singer and songwriter Kiiara, at the Palace Pool Club. It was a night of fashion, music and art. The new collection is available in all SM Stores nationwide.

Knit-picking for the season
WHY do women love knits? Because they are wonderfully warm, great to snuggle in, and also big in style. They also pack in a lot of versatility with their modern design, athleisure edge, and travel-friendly features.
Modesty meets modern style
KUALA Lumpur, Malaysia—One of the highlights of Malaysia Fashion Week, which was held from November 2 to 5 at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre, is the launch of “MODESTyle Malaysia,” which focuses primarily on modest fashions.
Connecting countries through style
FROM November 2 to 5, creative talents from the region will converge in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the third annual Mercedes-Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Week (MBSAFW). This fashion week-cum-trade exhibition event, organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp. (MATRADE) and Stylo International Sdn Bhd, coincides with Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW). It is a showcase/competition of top Asian designers in the region, with international and local buyers in attendance to get first glimpse of the Spring/Summer 2017 collections.
Halloween looks: Don’t try these at home
I’M not the type who goes crazy over Halloween happenings. I don’t remember ever going to a Halloween party/event in costume. I normally stay home. My daughter, however, is another story. Halloween is always a big deal for her.
