ARE you unsatisfied with the way your vehicle accelerates? Do you wish you could do something about it without spending a fortune? If your answer to those questions is a resounding yes, then look no further as Xaust Drift formally introduces its newest product to the market.
Aptly named Speed Booster, the device eliminates the lag or delays, which are present in modern vehicles, such as those that came out from the year 2000 onward. The reason behind this is the “drive by wire system” that modern vehicles now employ. The system uses sensors that send signals to the ECU, which then decodes this and sends it to the throttle body whenever the gas or accelerator pedal is pressed. But for all its modernity, this process has a downside, such as noticeable lag or delay in the way the engine responds in driving situations, such as overtaking or downshifting when going uphill.
GM Bugayong, proprietor of Xaust Drift that specializes in custom design mufflers and other aftermarket accessories that increases horsepower and torque without touching the engine, said, “Older vehicles, such as those that came out in the [19]90s, don’t suffer from this problem, as the cable-type system that links the pedal directly to the throttle body provides an instantaneous response in every press of the pedal.”
In a presentation done at his office at Valley Fair Town Center at Ortigas Avenue Extension, Taytay, Rizal. GM explained that the device has five settings or speed modes. Each mode provides varying effects on how the car behaves. In Normal mode, the car drives without any intervention from the speed booster. The Sports mode increases the acceleration by an astounding 50 percent and has 1-9 level of sensitivity, with 9 being the most sensitive. In Eco mode, acceleration is maximized while returning 3-percent to 8-percent fuel savings. Power mode is somewhat like the Sports mode at a lesser degree. It offers 25-percent improvement in acceleration and a 1-9 level of sensitivity. The Lock mode, meanwhile, is a nice addition, as it will prevent the vehicle from being driven, making it an excellent anti-theft device.
After the informative presentation, we then went to the service bay behind his office where we saw a brand-new Porsche that was being worked on. According to GM, aside from the muffler, the owner had his vehicle installed with Speed booster.
But the culmination of the event was the test drive itself to personally let us feel what he meant. Parked in front of his office are two his cars, a Hyundai Genesis Sports car and a mean-looking 2017 Ford Mustang GT both equipped with all his offerings and most especially the Speed Booster.
We took the Mustang and were given the opportunity to test-drive that beast of a vehicle. My turn to drive came on our way back to the office with GM riding shotgun. He explained that the unit can be used even while the car is in motion. While in Sports mode, we started from the level 1 setting all the way to 9 to demonstrate the sensitivity of pedal.
True enough, the already-fast Mustang accelerated even faster as the level went up. GM said that what is truly amazing about the Speed booster is that it does all of this without the need to increase the engine’s horsepower, thereby assuring car owners that the warranty of their brand-new vehicles won’t be voided. The plug and play nature of the device is another assurance that the car’s warranty will not be voided.
The Xaust Drift Speed booster comes with a two-year warranty and can be easily installed by the buyer themselves or at GM’s shop if they prefer. They offer a cash-on-delivery option to would-be buyers.
