MARILAO, Bulacan—The SM Foundation College Scholarship Program is now accepting applications for school year 2018-2019, said Gladiz May S. Latiza, public relations manager at SM City here.
With over 1,000 college scholars enrolled in colleges and universities in different areas in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, Latiza said SM Foundation continues to commit in providing quality-education opportunities among poor, yet deserving, public high-school graduates.
The public-relations manager said that in order to qualify, applicants must be fourth year or Grade 12, with weighted average grade of at least 88 percent by the second or third grading period of the current school year and a total household income of less than P150,000 per year.
Latiza said SM scholars can pursuebaccalaureate degrees in information technology, information management, computer engineering, electronics and communications engineering, computer science, elementary and secondary education and accountancy.
Scholars may also opt to study in SM Foundation’s partner schools in Metro Manila like Asia Pacific College, Far Eastern University (FEU), Adamson University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Philippine Normal University, FEU-East Asia, University of Caloocan, University of East in Manila, University of the Philippines in Diliman and National University.
In Bulacan scholars are also given the chance to pursue a course of their own in the Bulacan State University.
Latiza said that apart from the free, tuition fees and monthly allowances, yearlong activities and development programs, as well as educational tours, are being conducted as part of SM Foundation’s close monitoring of the scholars’ progress. Exclusive job offers with the SM Group of Cos. are, likewise, offered upon graduation.

Launched in 2003, the SM Foundation’s College Scholarship Program is the embodiment of the foundation’s education advocacy, one of many intended to extend immediate and long-range assistance to deprived communities in areas served by the SM Group of Cos.
