SIDE businesses are teeming in the Philippines, a poll by GoDaddy Inc. said.

“More than 20 percent of our customer bases have so-called rackets in the geeky economy,” Andrew Low Ah Kee, chief revenue officer of GoDaddy, told the BusinessMirror in a recent interview in Pasay City. “This is the emerging space right now. I have observed that having sidelines are popular in the Philippines.”
Ah Kee said the survey indicated a big number Filipinos doing sidelines or have side businesses, with 77 percent of respondents saying they have or have had income-generating endeavors on top of their regular jobs. According to the survey, online technologies have an important role in their business as it helped create awareness and provided sales touch points for the business. About 55 percent said their entrepreneurial ventures were highly dependent on technology.
Online tools of choice for the Filipino side-business owners were social media (69 percent), followed by web sites (43 percent), e-commerce platforms (37 percent) and digital marketing (35 percent).
