SHELL Philippines marked a milestone recently when it inaugurated its 1,000th retail station operated by Jenny Tan whose family has been an operator of Shell service stations for three generations.
As a third-generation retailer, Tan said, “My grandfather was a Shell distributor; my father operated our first station. I began operating my first gasoline station in 1996.”
Today Tan is a multisite operator, as she currently manages 11 retail stations for Shell—the biggest cluster of Shell stations around the South Luzon toll way. The 1,000th Shell station along Eton City in Santa Rosa, Laguna, is the newest site entrusted to Tan and her fuel-retail company that operates retail sites for Shell.
“We’re honored to be with Shell for many years. Santa Rosa, Laguna, is an emerging business, residential and commercial district and we’re very excited to contribute to the growth of this area,” Tan said.
Shell Eton station offers the innovative and energy-efficient products and services that the power and energy company is known for. This includes V-Power Nitro+ fuels, FuelSave products, lubricants and other services.
The station is also complete with the Select Deli2Go store, which offers fresh pastries and high-quality coffee, along with other products, and deluxe comfort rooms to give motorists a comfortable stopover experience. Like other Shell service-station operators in the country, Tan has programs that promote health, safety and the environment.
One of the programs is a waste-segregation project implemented in the community. Initiatives such as these are part of the energy company’s commitment to make a positive impact in areas where it operates.
Apart from new employment opportunities, new stations also open scholarship grants through the “Gas Mo Bukas Ko [You Fuel Our Future]” program, and other training programs for staff.
“Excellent customer service is not just about constantly coming up with innovations to continuously improve your site. It’s also about honing your employees, giving them skills and leadership trainings and opportunities to develop their career with you,” she said.
Located along the Greenfield Parkway, motorists from as far as Quezon City and other parts of Northern Metro Manila find a convenient stopover by the road at Shell Eton station.
“I choose to gas up at Shell Eton every time because the staff are really accommodating; they really go out of their way to help you. The fuel products make my car function at peak performance,” said Rey Zamora, an entrepreneur who visits Laguna every week to manage businesses in the area.
The 1,000th Shell retail station marks the company’s strong foothold in the country, which it has served for more than 100 years and “endeavors to continue powering through smarter products and cleaner energy, while promoting smarter use, smarter infrastructure and efficient and innovative technologies, which are part of its ‘Make the Future’ vision of powering progress sustainably.”
