NATIONAL women’s volleyball coach Shaq de los Santos will announce today the composition of the national team that will see action in the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia in August.
From a 20-member pool, De los Santos will trim the team down to 14 members.
“If we can bring all the 20 players to the Asian Games,” De los Santos said on Wednesday. “But we can only have 14 on the team.”
The national team is supervised by the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc.
Last year’s national team members made the first cut. They are Aby Maraño, Alyssa Valdez, Jaja Santiago, Mika Reyes, Kim Fajardo, Dawn Macandili, Kianna Dy, Ces Molina, Maika Ortiz and Rhea Dimaculan.
Libero Denden Lazaro also made the cut but missed the training session in favor of her mother club, Cocolife.
Jia Morado, Rebecca Rivera, CJ Rosario, Mylene Paat, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Cha Cruz and Majoy Baron also made the cut, as well as MJ Phillips, who is currently in United States, and Myla Pablo, who remains committed with Pocari Sweat-Air Force in the Premier Volleyball League.
De los Santos said that the 14 players on the team are deserving of their slots.
