THE Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has put up what it called FAST-lane kiosks at its head office in Pasay and its other satellite offices after its online system of company registration faced some technical problems.
These lanes will be manned by teams who will provide advisory assistance to new registrants of corporations, partnerships and associations with priority given to those applications filed in June and earlier.
“The Fast-lane online kiosks were put in place to assist new registrants and to show them how easy it is to use the online registration system as they can replicate the process in the convenience of their own homes or offices. All they need is a stable Internet service, and, of course, the information they will be inputting into the system,” SEC Chairman Emilio B. Aquino said.
The FAST lane stands for Facilitating Automated System Transition. Last year, the SEC launched its Company Registration System, an online system intended to have a faster registration process with data-capturing features to expedite its company-certification services. Both deliverables are intended to benefit the transacting public.
That system, however, faced technical problems, especially in the filling up of corporate information, unstable Internet connectivity, storage and other system readjustments.
“There is, therefore, a need to facilitate the transition from the SEC’s previous manual registration system to an automated one,” the SEC said.
The online-registration system is one of the mechanisms established by the SEC to make services more efficient and easily accessible to the public.
The SEC offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Its satellite offices are at SM North Edsa Annex, Ali Mall Cubao, Robinson’s Galleria Ortigas Center, SM Manila, SM Mall of Asia and Muntinlupa City Hall.
The SEC has extension offices in Baguio City, Tarlac City, Legazpi City, Cebu City, Iloilo City, Cagayan de Oro City, Zamboanga City and Davao City.
