Resorts World Manila (RWM) employees are walking the environmental talk through the company’s Live and Love Green (LLG) program. Now on its fourth year, the employees’ enthusiasm for its monthly recycling program is stronger than ever, with RWM on track to exceed the annual target.
Employee-volunteers closed out the third quarter of the year with a total of 15.3 tons of recyclable materials collected, out of its 18-ton goal for 2017.
The collected recyclables, which would have otherwise gone to a landfill, are donated to the Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines. The foundation processes the materials into useful items, such as shirts and blankets to be used in disaster relief drives.
“RWM values the importance of conserving resources, preserving nature for future generations and reaching out to victims of calamities,” said Archie Nicasio, RWM assistant director for corporate communications. “Through LLG, we are able to meet all three goals while creating an informed and involved employee base.”
Besides its recycling efforts, RWM also conducts eco-awareness and reforestation at the La Mesa Nature Reserve in Quezon City, in cooperation with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc.’s Bantay Kalikasan Program.
Through the activity, 200 seedlings of native tree species are being grown to be transferred to an RWM-adopted arboretum.
