BARELY a week before the local election next week, Quezon City is teeming with suspected flying voters that may have been already “planted” ahead of the Sangguniang Kabataan and barangay elections on Monday.
The voters list of Teacher’s Village West in Quezon City obtained by the BusinessMirror on Thursday from a concerned citizen of the area showed hundreds of residents are living in a few addresses, making one wonder just how many people can really occupy a few square meters of floor area.
Red dots mark the streets of Maalahanin, Mabait, Mahinhin, Mahiyain and Manigning, as some 50 residents on the average are declared as residing in each of the several suspected addresses in the mentioned streets.
The resident who declined to be named, particularly noted No. 3 Maalalahanin Street, with a certain doctor who is running as barangay chairman as suspect, same as with No. 3 Mabait Sreet., with a suspected lead who is running also for the position of barangay chairman.
Houses in No. 49 Mahinhin and No. 14 Mahiyain streets are being connected to an incumbent barangay official.
No. 41 or 41-A is being connected to a certain kagawad candidate, with the residents of the address as security guards working in Jove’s Security Agency, the resident said.
The informant, a 42-year resident of Teachers Village West, is protesting what he calls “a place we call home has become a breeding ground of corruption and sheer neglect” from the residents themselves and the local government.
“Gone are the days when children could play in a safe village they would call their own. Today, it stands as a testament to dual phenomenon of indifferent residents being over powered by opportunistic politicians,” the resident said.
