CAMP Nakar, Lucena City—The Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) is banking on its Community Mobilization Program (CMP) to pursue its anti-criminality drive in the province as the police nabbed seven drug violators and rescued three minor victims of sex trafficking in separate police operations last Sunday and Tuesday here.
Quezon Police Director Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento and Lucena police head, Supt. Vicente Cabitingan presented to the media on Valentine’s Day Wednesday all the seven drug suspects, including a former policeman and an 18-year-old suspected pimp who was “selling” the minors to various clients and booking them in motels.
The drug suspects were identified as Santiago Rosatoles and Orlando Japor, both jeepney drivers; Roderick Defeo, a truck driver; and Fortunato Nosa, a former police intelligence operative who went AWOL and was dismissed in 2012.
They were arrested around 2 p.m. on Sunday at Don Froilan, University Site, Barangay Ibabang Dupay here. Also, about 2 grams believed to be shabu with a street value of P3,700 contained in various plastic sachets were confiscated by the raiding police team composed of the Intelligence and Drug Enforcement Unit of the city police station here.
The second batch of young suspects were identified as Justine Monterey of Bonifacio Street corner Lakandula Street; Miketristan Orenedo of 120 Allarey Street, both of Barangay 7; and Carl Jensen Castillo of Purok Bagong Pag-asa, Barangay Cotta, all in this city.
They yielded 95.61 grams of dried leaves of marijuana worth P4,780.50 in a buy-bust operation last Sunday at Bonifacio Street corner Lakandula Street, Barangay 7 here.
The third batch presented to the media was a lone suspect identified as Myrjane Lavarnez Cayasa, 18, of Bay, Laguna and a resident of Landing Road, Barangay Ibabang Iyam here. She was with three minors wearing school uniforms when they were rescued in an entrapment operation at 101 Hotel in Barangay Bocohan conducted by the Lucena City police, Lucena City Social Welfare Development Office, Pagbilao police and Pagbilao municipal social welfare and development office.
With the arrest of the suspects, Armamento said they are focusing their antidrug watch on school sites and university campuses with the alleged distribution of marijuana in bite-sized chocolates, leche flan and gummy bears to high-school and college students.
He said the illegal drugs in Quezon are still sourced from the cities of Dasmariñas, Taguig and Quezon and being distributed in various ingenious ways to outsmart the authorities.
