THE State of Qatar, thru the efforts of Ambassador Ali Ibrahim Al Malki, recently feted members of the Philippine media at his residence.
Together with former Sen. Francisco Tatad and former Ambassador Alejandro del Rosario, the Qatari envoy thanked the members of the local press for their kind support in writing about the embassy and the State of Qatar as he cited their efforts in sharing developments in the areas of economy, bilateral relations with the Philippines and updates on the “siege” issues with other Middle Eastern countries.
Recent developments included keen interest from investors of Qatar who intend to enhance further their business relations with the Philippines, with a key delegation being in the country just last month.
Apart from which, Al Malki highlighted the State’s interest to partner in key sectors, such as business, cultural relations, sports and education, among others.
Qatar, which currently hosts more than 240,000 overseas Filipino workers and has sought an increased demand if only for the Qatar World Cup 2022 alone, has “oil revenues that have been well utilized to establish a solid base for oil- and gas-related [sectors, as well as] other basic industries, [and has built] an advanced infrastructure capable of serving national industries responding to its future needs and challenges.”
Qatar is unfortunately facing a blockade and a current tension with neighboring countries, both of which are affecting the social fabric of its families. The State takes this in stride though and continues to focus on its progress and other developments.
Shukran to the Embassy of the State of Qatar for hosting this dinner…. More power!
