THE State of Qatar’s top envoy to the Philippines recently urged Filipinos to visit his country and discover why it is called the “Glittering Pearl of the Persian Gulf.”
The invitation was made by Ambassador Ali Ibrahim Al-Malki during the celebration of Qatar’s National Day, which commemorates the founding of the Arab country by its first ruler, Sheikh bin Thani bin Mohammed.
Al-Malki also expects that the bilateral ties between the Philippines and Qatar will become more robust.
The diplomat, representative of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani in the country, said, “We are looking forward to enhance the relations.”
He also lauded the role of the Filipino community of workers in his country: “We have more than 250,000 [of your countrymen] in Qatar. They are our partners in our development. And we say ‘thank you’ to them.”
Al-Malki noted the many agreements the two countries signed during President Duterte’s state visit to Qatar in April, and added his government is currently working with the Philippines for more.
