A friend once told me I always go “skipping”—not the “happy-jumping-out-of-joy” one but “reality skipping.” This is when I tend to skip the little things: forgetting to save a copy of a file, updating trackers and the like. Regardless, I get the job done on time.
It worked for me for a few months, until some part of the work process went downhill. I take part of the blame because I “skipped.” My friend said I’m so stubborn that I only listen to myself despite others reminding me every day to do the right thing and follow the process.
Maybe I am that stubborn. I get to write and may inspire people even though I forget to apply them to myself. I keep running away. I do the things I want to do but I sometimes forget the implications as a whole.
I believe, however, that I’m not alone.
Some of us tend to skip the hard part and just settle for what’s easy; what’s already there. We wake up every day choosing what’s good for the short term but forget to pursue our purpose. We get easily blinded by things with ribbons and glitters, bells and whistles that we forget the treasures waiting for us at the end of the trail.
You’re lucky if you’re young and you already know what you want. Believe it or not, there are people who are struggling to know and actually feel theirs. If you know your purpose, I hope you never let go of them no matter how difficult life gets.
There will be instances when people will question your ambitions again and again. There will be criticisms and hate but I hope you realize none of those will matter if you believe in yourself.
We live in a world where everything is almost expensive and out of reach; but life is, too. I hope we all live to dream despite the world saying it’s the most expensive one. I know it’s too entitled to say that I keep chasing what’s almost impossible to grab, but when you have the chance, won’t you take it, too?
I keep running away but one day I realized I wasn’t running: I was chasing my dreams.
I hope we don’t settle because we all deserve more, what’s better. You are bigger than all the doubts you could ever think of. You are more than that. I hope we don’t stop until we realize what we are really capable of.
Pursuing our purpose is neither free nor easy. But we could do good things every day that will lead us a little step closer to it.
Hold on tight, get a grip and never give up on yourself. Whenever you feel lost, look up and draw with the clouds. Draw your path and it will lead you there. Planning doesn’t stop with pen and paper, it stops when you just leave it there.
Whenever you feel scared, hug the people you love. Don’t wait for them to go to you, ask for help—we all need help sometimes. Whenever you feel unsure, ask questions and talk to the people around you.
You’ll gain wisdom through your journey. And when you are about to give up, look back and see how far you’ve gone. Sometimes we’ve got to go back and pick up all the whys we lost along the way. You had it in you, you always have. We just have to believe.
Our dreams require hard work, commitment, passion, responsibility and persistence. Don’t be distracted by the people who are ahead of you because they will always be there. Rather, be inspired and motivated by them. You have your own timeline, remember?
What do you really want in life? What will make your heart happy and contented? Where do you see yourself going? What will you do? What’s your purpose? Where do you want to go? What’s your next move?
Your call.
