ELITE national athletes will receive more in their monthly allowances from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
Olympic medalists and world champions will get an additional P5,000 from the P40,000 monthly allowances that each of them are receiving from the government sports agency.
Called “Platinum” under the PSC’s new classification, Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, World 9-ball champion Carlo Biado and Bowling World Cup titlist Krizziah Lyn Tabora will get a maximum pay of P45,000 each month.
Class A athletes, or silver and bronze medalists from the world championships, chess grandmasters, Asian Games gold medalists and Olympians of the preceding cycle will now get P40,000 each.
In the third bracket under Class B, Asian Games silver and bronze medalists, Asian-level tournament medalists and Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalists will each receive P30,000 a month.
SEA Games and Southeast Asian-level tournament medalists will take home P20,000 under the Class C bracket.
Invitationals and open medalists—and returning and former medalists—will earn P10,000 under Training Pool-A, while new entries in the national team and local events medalists will get P6,000.
PSC Executive Director Sannah Frivaldo have already advised national sports associations on the new scheme.
