Another heartbreak for the Philippines at the hands of South Korea in the Asian Games.
The Philippine men’s basketball bowed down to South Korea, 91-82, Monday at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Ricardo Ratliffe paced South Korea with 30 points.
The South Koreans relied on their outside shooting to take a precarious 22-18 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
But the Philippines gave Korea a dose of its own medicine by unleashing a 26-point outburst to take the lead at the halftime break.
Jordan Clarkson waxed hot to help the Philippines hold on to a slim 65-64 edge heading into the payoff period.
Rebounds were the difference in the game as the South Koreans translated those into made field goals which paved the way for them to pull away in the end.
Kim Sunhyung and Heo Ilyoung added 17 points apiece for South Korea. They will face the winner between Iran and Japan in the semifinals.
Clarkson tallied 25 points, while Christian Standhardinger contributed 16 points for the Philippines.
