THE Philippine Basketball Association Press Corps (PBAPC) honors the players and personalities who excelled in the recent season through the 24th Annual Awards on November 30 at the Gloria Maris Restaurant at the Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City.
The event will be highlighted by the presentation of the Virgilio “Baby” Dalupan Coach of the Year trophy—named after the late prodigious coach considered as one of the brilliant basketball minds the country ever had.
Alongside the Coach of the Year honor, also to be distinguished is the Danny Floro Executive of the Year, which is named after the late amiable former team owner of the fabled Crispa Redmanizers.
Since 1993, the recognition has been given out on an annual basis by the PBAPC, composed of the men and women representing the country’s daily broadsheets, tabloids and websites who regularly cover the PBA.
The PBAPC awards are distinct from the league’s own annual awards.
Also to be recognized in the event presented by Cignal are the Defensive Player of the Year, Mr. Quality Minutes and William “Bogs” Adornado Comeback Player of the Year in honor of the league’s former three-time Most Valuable Player and Hall of Famer.
Also to be cited are the All-Rookie team members, Scoring champion, Order of Merit (given to the player who had the most Player of the Week honors given out by the PBAPC) and the All-Interview team, which is now being awarded for the second straight year.
For the first time in the awards’ history, the group will also honor the “Game of the Season” to the teams that provided the most intense and memorable matches of the year.
The PBAPC Facebook page would also be launched during the affair to be hosted by lovely courtside reporter Rizza Diaz and veteran broadcaster Sev Sarmenta.
