MELCO Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corp. on Wednesday said it secured a notice from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) to commence its operations on its $1.3-billion City of Dreams Manila. “City of Dreams Manila will commence operations on December 14, 2014, with a grand opening of the integrated resort planned before Chinese New Year in 2015,” it said.
The integrated casino will be operated by MCE Leisure (Philippines) Corp.
Half of the casino venture is owned by Sy-led companies, such as Belle Corp., while the other half will be owned by Macau-based Melco Crown Entertainment.
Belle, controlled by the SM group, holds the license for the said casino.
City of Dreams Manila will be the second integrated casino to open in Entertainment City in Parañaque. It will open more than a year after Razon’s Solaire Resort and Casino opened in March last year.
The new casino will have more than 900 hotel rooms, 365 gaming tables, 1,680 slot machines and 1,680 electronic games.
It was supposed to open in October this year, but the timetable was pushed back further due to several issues.
