THE country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games will be on the discussion table when President Rodrigo Duterte and top sports officials grace the opening ceremony of the Philippine National Games in Cebu next week.
Foreign Secretary and SEA Games Organizing Committee Chairman Alan Peter Cayetano and members of the Cabinet are expected to discuss the SEA Games hosting with President Duterte, along with officials of the Philippine Sports Commission, led by Chairman William Ramirez, and the Philippine Olympic Committee, headed by Ricky Vargas.
The PNG will be held May 19 to 25.
“We want to talk about SEA Games because all the important personalities will be present in Cebu,” Ramirez said.
PSC Commissioner Ramon Fernandez has guaranteed the preparedness of co-hosts Cebu City and Cebu Province for the games that will gather more than 8,500 athletes competing in 22 sports.
The games will be played in 12 venues in Cebu City and in the cities of Lapu Lapu, Naga, Tabuelan City and Danao.
