NLEX plays sister team TNT hoping to move closer to an unprecedented twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs in the Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup today at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
The Road Warriors are in their best shape so far in the league and are sharing the lead with the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings with a 7-2 won-lost card. They go for the magic win No. 8 against the Katropa, which traded big man Ranidel de Ocampo the other day, at 7 p.m.
“Our mission is to get to eight wins as soon as possible,” NLEX Head Coach Yeng Guiao said. “We have two tough games to accomplish that. TNT is the first big hurdle. We hope the RDO [de Ocampo] trade is going to create some adjustment issues that can work to our advantage.”
TNT sits in the middle of the pack with a 5-3 record. It shipped de Ocampo to Phoenis and eventually found himself with Meralco on Monday, a deal that obviously was intended to add power to the Bolts’ championship bid.
Rain or Shine (4-3), meanwhile, battles Phoenix (2-7) at 4:15 p.m.
