IN an unprecendented move, the city government of Muntinlupa passed on archival records of important events to the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP).
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi led the turnover ceremony of the records of Muntinlupa Centennial Celebration and its entry to the collection of NAP, which was held recently at Bellevue Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Witnessing the event, NAP Executive Director Victorino Manalo lauded the city for being the first local government unit to do so.
“You have bestowed on the National Archives a treasure that will definitely enrich its collection,” he said. “We hope this action will also serve as an example to other local archives,” he added.
The NAP is set to seal a tie-up deal with the city of Muntinlupa for records management and archives administration.
Fresnedi said his administration will be committed in working with the NAP to advance records management as a tool for transparency, accountability and efficiency in governance.
Related documents for the 100th foundation anniversary of Muntinlupa are also set to be handed over to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
Attending the ceremony were Rep. Ruffy Biazon, Muntinlupa Centennial Commission Chairman Allan Cachuela, former Muntinlupa Mayor Ignacio Bunye, former Cong. Rodolfo Biazon, local officials, partners in the private sector and non-governmental organizations, among others.
Muntinlupa commemorated its centennial on December 19, 2017.
