QUEZON CITY—The Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), the holding company of the North Luzon Expressway (Nlex), is making a study on the increased volume of vehicles passing along Nlex San Simon exit in Pampanga.
This, according to Raul L. Ignacio, Nlex Corp. Senior vice president for tollways development and engineering during a recent news conference here.
Ignacio said they are “aware” of the traffic at the San Simon exit, especially when several trucks enter and exit the interchange. The presence of several factories in San Simon has also caused more trucks to use the exit.
The study involves the exits in Angeles City, Dau and Santa Ines, all in Pampanga.
Ignacio said the exit will be completed within a month.
The MPTC continuously improves the Nlex, said Rodrigo Franco, MPTC and Nlex Corp. president and CEO.
Franco adde the MPTC chipped out P3.7 billion for the completed and ongoing enhancement projects at the Nlex, Southern Luzon Expressway (Slex) and Cavite Expressway (Cavitex).
The MPTC is also the holding company of Slex and Cavitex.
Franco said the 64 new lanes between Santa Rita, Guiguinto, Bulacan; and Santa Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga have been fully opened this year.
