MERALCO Manila tries to widen its lead as it faces second-running Kaya Makati, while Ceres Negros tries to continue its surge against Ilocos United today in the Philippines Football League.
Meralco Manila, which leads the field with 44 points, takes on Kaya Makati at 4 p.m. at the University of Makati Stadium.
Ceres Negros, on the other hand, try to get a grip of solo third place when it hosts Ilocos United at 7 p.m. at the Panaad Park and Football Stadium in Bacolod City.
Also at 4 p.m., the Davao Aguilas seek to enter the win column when it visits Stallion Laguna at the Biñan Football Stadium.
The Sparks—now led by Tahj Minniecon, Kurt Dizon, Jake Morallo, Anto Gonzales and Daniel Gadia—have beaten Kaya Makati, 2-0 and 2-1, earlier in the tournament.
Kaya Makati, led by Jordan Mintah and Robert Mendy, are in solo second place with 38 points.
The Aguilas are the only winless team in the league after 17 matches with seven points—all on draws. But they are hoping to get stronger with the acquisition of Phil and James Younghusband from Meralco.
Ceres has 32 points in 15 matches, two points behind third placer Global (34 points).
