Marian Rivera embraces motherhood and all the duties that come with it. Since giving birth to daughter Baby Zia with Dingdong Dantes in 2015, the showbiz royalty has been especially fond of preparing food for her family.
Marian presented a cooking demonstration recently with Chef Niño Lugarta, as part of the event where she was introduced as the endorser of Mega Prime Quality, the canned vegetables line of Mega Global Corp.
As Chef Niño was wrapping up the dish they were preparing, the Chicken Sotanghon with Mega Prime Mushrooms, he said, “You first eat with your eyes so plating is important. ’Yung iba kasi, sinasabing ok lang ’yan, kasi pamilya lang naman ’yung pinapakain sa bahay’.”
The example triggered Marian. Her response embodied how much the actress values her new role as a mom. “’Family lang?’ No. Family nga ’yan so dapat sila talaga dapat ’yung priority,” she said with a smile.
It’s that level of commitment, along with optimism and innovativeness, that identifies Marian with the Mega Prime brand, according to Mega Global Vice President for Sales and Marketing Marvin Tiu Lim.
Launched in June 2016, the Mega Prime canned vegetables line is part of a conglomerate under Mega Global, a company primarily engaged in the manufacturing, distribution and marketing of sardines. Lim said introducing canned vegetables is part of their strategy to diversify. “The Mega Prime line is very, very important because it is a new product for us, and it deviates from our natural products of sardines and tuna. We want to launch better products for the Filipino consumers, and this is a key step for us.”
According to Raymund Alegre, brand manager for Mega Prime, the goal of Mega Global is “to be part of every Filipino’s kitchen”.
Lim said Mega Global has more products in the pipeline, as they look to enter categories that have been “monopolized”, and challenge existing market players that have brought little innovation. “There are few players that aren’t offering anything new. They’re not innovating. They’re not changing their products, their packaging. That’s where we’re really strong at.”
The products under the Mega Prime canned-vegetables brand are mushrooms (pieces and stems, or whole), corn (whole kernel or cream style) and green peas. All packaging comes in “easy-open cans” with pull-tabs.
The canned products have a shelf life of three years. They are all available now in major supermarkets and groceries nationwide.
