I HAVE always appreciated Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga, not only because they excel in what they do but also because they are people who know how to genuinely make me laugh. Even better, they can heartily laugh at themselves.
It is this sense of humor that made showbiz insiders stand up and notice Luis and Alex who both were cast on ASAP’s “Karaokey” segment. Every week they try to best each other in a wacky singing showdown. This segment is now one of the most anticipated in the ABS-CBN Sunday variety show.
But even when they’re not working together, Luis and Alex are individual forces to reckon with. Luis is seen daily on Deal or No Deal on ABS-CBN. He was also chosen to be the face of Puregold Perks Card.
Puregold Perks Card is a special privilege card that every Puregold shopper can avail himself or herself of to earn points and get rewards to make his or her shopping experience with Puregold more exciting. The card joins the ranks of Tindahan Ni Aling Puring (TNAP) program, which has been giving sari-sari store owners and food resellers panalo benefits for the past 11 years. This time, with the Puregold Perks Card, regular shoppers can avail themselves of the amazing perks Puregold has to offer.
“Luis is the perfect Filipino artist to represent Puregold Perks Card,” says Puregold National Operations Manager Antonio de los Santos. “The people who admire, respect and trust Luis cut through all the various segments of the mainstream market. Luis’s hard work continues to earn him great points in the hearts of Filipinos, and that is a great reward for any artist to accomplish.”
All shoppers can avail themselves of Puregold Perks Card, which promises real benefits, as shoppers can earn points that will give them instant access to special promos, exclusive discounts and personalized offers, like the Puregold Pay Day Buy-One, Take-One Specials. Through the card, shoppers get rewarded every time they shop at Puregold. The more they shop, the more points they earn. The points that shoppers earn can be deducted from their grocery bills and they will all be entitled to get special treats during their birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween Christmas, and other special holidays.
Meanwhile, Alex Gonzaga has truly stepped out of her sister Toni’s shadow, and was recently cast in the title role of Inday Bote.
ABS-CBN is set to give prime-time viewers a magical and inspirational viewing experience, as it breathes new life into the masterpiece of veteran komiks novelist Pablo Gomez, starring the TV host-actress.
Inday Bote is touted to provide magical and inspirational viewing to ABS-CBN fans, and will revolve around the story of Inday, a free-spirited young woman who is ready to do everything for her family. Because of her kind heart, Inday is given a magic bottle that, unknown to her, is inhabited by dwarves with magical powers. How will the dwarves and the magic bottle change Inday’s life? Will they bring her luck or misfortune? According to Alex, you’ve got to watch her show starting this Monday to find out.
Inday Bote will also introduce newest child actor Alonzo Muhlach. He will play the character of Entoy, one of the dwarves who will become Inday’s friend.
Under the direction of Malu Sevilla and Jon Villarin, Inday Bote will also star Matteo Guidicelli, Kean Cipriano, Alora Sasam, Smokey Manaloto, Nikki Valdez, Malou Crisologo and Izzy Canillo.
The executives of Inday Bote are quick to point out that this is not a revival of the movie, but of the komiks series of Pablo Gomez, and has a different treatment. So, to those who raised their eyebrows, saying that Alex is not a worthy replacement of the iconic Maricel Soriano, who portrayed the title character in the 1980s movie of the same title, Rondel Lindayag, the show’s creative executive, says that “Alex is a perfect fit for the role. Hindi dahil siya ang pwedeng pumalit kay Maricel or may similarities siya sa Diamond Star. It’s because she has the qualities to give life to the role. Bakit naman kami maghahanap ng next Maricel when Alex can be the ‘first’ Alex!”
Bongga ka talaga, Alex Gonzaga!
