University of the East sent Colegio San Agustin-Biñan crashing back to earth following a 25-10 26-24, 25-8 victory in the Philippine Superliga Collegiate Grand Slam on Thursday at the Muntinlupa City Sports Center.
After suffering back-to-back setbacks, the Lady Warriors regained their winning form as they dominated the Eagles, who are coming off a massive five-set upset of Far Eastern University two weeks ago.
With the win, the Red Warriors finished this prestigious collegiate league bankrolled by Asics, Isuzu, Mikasa, Senoh, Mueller, UCPB Gen and Bizooku with Genius Sports as technical provider with a 2-3 win-loss slate.
They will face the Lady Tamaraws in the bronze medal match while University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas figure in the finals on December 20 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Veteran Meann Mendrez fired 10 kills and an ace for 11 points, while Setter Laizah Bendong tallied seven aces on top of 11 excellent sets for UE, which completed the win in just 65 minutes.
The Eagles, who fell to 1-3, will wrap up its participation in this inaugural tourney that also has ESPN5, Aksyon TV and Hyper HD as broadcast partners against De La Salle-Dasmariñas.
