THE annual Korean Film Festival has just unreeled at the SM Megamall Cinema, which gave mallgoers a glimpse of Korean history and culture through its “very carefully selected movies.”
No less than Lee Seok-hoon, director of the festival’s opening film The Pirates,flew in from Korea as he attended the launch and gave a special talk that centered on the Korean Film Industry.
A joint project of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines and SM, this year’s festival theme is “Time Travel,” with five historical and classic films that will take moviegoers back in time. Each film tells a story from the past and inspires a deeper understanding of Korea’s cultural diversity.
Through the festival, Filipino audiences will see masterful storytelling, acting and technological advancements in Korea’s thriving film industry in the festival’s five featured films. These include The Pirates, Assassination, Warriors of the Dawn, Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet, and Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time.
The festival was also featured at SM Cinemas in key cities around the Philippines: in SM City Baguio, SM Lanang Premier in Davao, SM City Iloilo and SM City Cebu.
