Let Rosales travels the world in search of treasures—costume jewelry and other accessories—that women will love.
Everybody knows that accessories, such as earrings, necklaces and even brooches can make or break an outfit. Brave is the woman who dares to wear statement pieces because these could potentially ruin her look. If they don’t, then she has taken a risk that actually worked. Not everyone wears accessories, but those who do love them and can’t live without them.
Let Rosales’ store, Koket, is where she brings home the treasures she finds from her travels. Koket, which was derived from the French word “coquette,” started at Rustan’s Department Store in 2006. Soon after that, Koket opened a kiosk at The Power Plant Mall in Rockwell where it has been since.
“Our eye-catching jewelry is proudly worn by celebrities, actresses and fashionistas who know true style and genuine value when they see it,” Let said.
Koket recently opened its first boutique at the second level of The Power Plant Mall’s new wing after a brief break, as that part of the mall where the kiosk used to be was being rebuilt.
The store is the fruit of Let’s travels for a year. It showcases the latest trends in jewelry and accessories that include bold neck pieces in gold set with stones, beautiful leather clutches in dark colors, bags for the beach made from natural materials, statement earrings in gold and silver, and brooches and pins in quirky designs to spice up all-black outfits.
Koket also has scarves, shawls and other accessories for men and women.
“I love bold and chunky statement pieces but I also go for more subtle accessories that still have flair,” Let said.
In other news, I try not to go out during weekends but last February 11 was an exception, as I joined other beauty enthusiasts in Glorietta Activity Center for Beauty Confidential, a Beauty Bootcamp event organized by Belle de Jour (BDJ) Power Planer and beauty web site Project Vanity.
Topics about makeup, skincare and use of essential oils were tackled in the workshops with over 20 beauty and wellness brands taking part in the event.
“I’m a firm believer that taking good care of one’s hygiene and intimate beauty leads to real inner confidence,” said athlete and and TV host Gretchen Ho at the Intimate Beauty Talks with Carefree and Lay Bare.
Gretchen, Carefree’s Intimate Ambassador, always has an intimate grooming kit that includes pantyliners in her work bag. Her days are always long and she is always moving from point to point, so freshness is essential.
The event was all about beauty and self-care. According to studies, nine out of 10 Filipinas also believe in the importance of self-care.
“Taking care of yourself first allows you to be more and do more. As cheesy as it may sound, when you feel good about yourself, you really feel like you can conquer the world—one goal at a time,” said Darlyn Ty-Nilo of BDJ.
Over 20 brands joined in the full day of learning and entertainment.
On the main stage, six workshops facilitated by experts shared beauty and wellness secrets. Workshop topics included “Getting Fabulously Fierce with Ever Bilena,” “Derma Secrets with Bioderma,” “Picture Perfect Beauty with Ellana Mineral Cosmetics,” “Skin Care Regimen with the Project Vanity team,” “How to Look Like You Got Eight Hours of Sleep with Max Factor,” “Covergirl and Nuxe” and “How to be a Beauty Oil-bularyo with Zenutrients.”
At the Beauty Fair area, there was a lot of excitement with games and mini-workshops. There were freebies and intimate secrets at Carefree’s Intimate Beauty Studio. BYS and Revlon provided mini makeup workshops for visitors, while Chihuahua, CosRX, K-Palette and Makeup World hosted games in their respective booths. Other activities included Celeteque’s free skin analysis and consultation. Great shopping deals were also available to participants in the booths of Canmake, Colourette and Pink Sugar.
It was a Sunday afternoon well-spent. It is always great to spend time with fellow beauty enthusiasts and learn a beauty secret or two. n
