Knights bring down Maroons; Zobel boys reach U-17 finals

Japs Pambid and Christian Fajarito each scored 12 points to lead Letran’s Team B past 25-under division leader University of the Philippines (UP), 66-57, in the Milcu Sports’ Got Skills Elite Showcase at the Lyceum of the Philippines University Gym in Manila recently.

The Knights’ Team B, stocked with transferees—including former College of Saint Benilde center Christian Fajarito, former De La Salle Green Archer Larry Muyang, ex-University of the East Red Warrior Edson Batiller and former San Beda Red Cub star Norrish DeCapia—led all throughout.

Muyang added eight points, the same output as the celebrated Batiller.

Bright Akhuetie, UP’s prize catch who himself is a transferee from University of Perpetual Help, was held to 13 points in the loss where he was swarmed all game by the Knights.

The talented Akhuetie is expected to lead the Fighting Maroons’ campaign in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 81.

In other matches, De La Salle Zobel advanced to the finals of the 17-under division after beating University of Santo Tomas, 60-45.

Jack Macasaet had 11 points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in an all-around effort for the Junior Archers.
