RECENTLY the International Academy of Medical Specialists Inc. (IAMS) held its first Summit on Health, Education and Environment at the Novotel Manila in Araneta Center, Quezon City.
The summit, which was titled “What Every Doctor Should Know #NoToFakeNews,” was aimed at encouraging doctors to be more persistent in promoting the facts and truths. The IAMS believes that doctors have an important role to play in propagating the truth about different issues especially those that involve the medical profession.
“The proliferation of fake news in different social-media platforms and the whole Internet inspired us to have this summit, which we hope will serve as an avenue to make public the truth about certain issues that have been in the news lately. I believe that doctors play a very important role in the betterment of the society. We hold many truths that can affect human lives, and with this reality, it is our duty to provide the people only the facts,” said IAMS President Dr. Gil Vicente.
Meanwhile, IAMS Vice President and Overall Chairman of the summit Dr. Erick Francisco stressed that the summit is just one of the many activities that IAMS will be doing this year to share their skills and know-how not only to fellow doctors but more important to people who seek better health care and health services.
“Many people look up to us, doctors, they value our opinion, they listen to what we have to say, and with this great opportunity, we be a channel of blessings by providing them excellent medical care, be it physical, mental or spiritual. Together we can all push our industry to greater heights, together we can help heal our home—our Earth, together we can all grow in knowledge to strengthen the foundation of our industry,” Francisco noted.
The scientific lectures during the summit were given by some of the well-respected doctors who are also presidents of other doctors’ organizations. They presented the trending issues in the medical industry.
The Unilab was the major partner of the IAMS, which made the summit possible and successful. The BusinessMirror, Health&Fitness Magazine, Philippines Graphic were the major media partners, and the Malaya Business Insight also supported the event.
Some of sponsors that helped in staging the summit were: Century Properties, Taal Vista Hotel, Novotel Manila, Diamond Hotel, Sweet & Fit Stevia, Glorious Blend Coffee, PhilNoni, Jeunesse Anion Napkins, So Sure Bladder Control Napkin, Misso, Unionbank, Diana Stalder, Unionbank, Alveo Land, Alexora, Odyssey.net, Gur Lavi Corp., Bioplus-Crador Corp., YBN Nutrients (Phils.)
